The oldest of five, and the heart of a helper, Alayna has had more than her share of pressure to handle. With her mom, Zaneta, a disabled Iraqi War Veteran, and mother of two sets of twins, Alayna spends a lot of her time helping out the family. She’s a bright, funny girl when you get to know her; she’s moved around a little, due to her family’s military career, and starts another new school, with new friends the week after Labor Day. She loves to sing, and wants to be famous. More »

Fresh from landing Schaumburg Idol (competing against a field of adults) thirteen year old Jessica Blakely can literally sing the phone book. Researching music of regional songwriters, Jessica landed on a great song called Someday, written by Julie Oehme. “I want to figure out what I really can sound like” Jessica shared at the song selection session; together with her mom, Heidi they went on a search for a song who’s lyrics and melody would be memorable, leaning into the power ballads of R&B artist, Leona Lewis. One look into the eyes of this passionate sixteen year old and it’s clear – singing is all Monica Hodge wants to do! Winner of 2010 Walworth County Junior Idol (13-15), we knew she’d be a strong competitor for MWAN; as expected, she blew away the crowds to win a slot on the Junior Sampler. Monica has begun to journey into songwriting this past year; she debuted two original songs for Friday Night Live joining several other Junior Singer/Songwriters, Claire Kelly, Stuart Bisbee, and Richard Geier throughout the course of our summer concert series. You’re All I See was strongly received, and selected as Monica’s feature on the Junior Sampler album. “Monica’s strong suit, although not the only hand she plays, is “New Country”. More »
